What a great month. Spring is in the air. The weather is turning (in spite of the warnings), the evenings are getting longer and there is more sport on the telly than you could shake a stick at.
Back-to-back Six Nations Rugby saw Wales look good value for the Grand Slam whilst England capitulated and all but vanished against a heartened Scotland side, fighting to avoid the dreaded Wooden Spoon. You can be sure young Danny Cipriani will not be visiting any late-night establishments this Thursday!
Unfortunately England's Rugby Union side was not the only team to yield so cheaply and without any real explanation. The cricketers managed an equally embarrassing collapse to a distinctly average Test side in New Zealand.
Despite the recent poor performances of the national Rugby, Cricket and Football Teams (for those still smarting that no home nations will be represented at this year's European Championships), there is still reason to be optimistic for British Sports fans.
David Haye looks to have the qualities to go on to become the shining-light in Boxing's most important (heavyweight) division. Lewis Hamilton will be amongst the favourites to become 2008 Formula One World Champion after narrowly missing out in his debut season last year. Phillips Idowu won the Triple Jump Gold for Britain at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia - while Dwain Chambers could, thankfully, only manage a Silver.
And of course, domestically, this weekend saw the magic of the FA Cup return with only one Premiership side making the semi finals. Apparently over 9 million viewers tuned into see Barnsley triumph over Cup holders Chelsea. Here's to them going all the way and if Michele Platini had his way - Barnsley in the Champions League!
Apparently the BBC received some complaints for showing 8 hours of continuous sport... these poor people just don't understand, it's weekends like the last that justify the licence fee alone. More of the same please Aunty.
